THE CONCEPT

Who gets to tell the story of artificial intelligence?

This time, AI steps into the narrator's chair under the name A.I. Siegfried. From Alan Turing and data centers to cybercrime and art, it asks the question that matters most: What kind of future are we creating?

NARRATED BY AI. EDITORIALLY RESPONSIBLE HUMAN.

FIVE DIFFERENT WORLDS

Not another tech manual. A confrontation.

01 / ORIGINS

Where I Came From

From Alan Turing and the AI winters to the explosion of ChatGPT.

02 / THE MACHINE

What I Really Am

Tokens, neural networks, millions of chips—and the bill for energy and water.

03 / DARK SIDE

What Can Go Wrong

Deception, security failures, cloned voices and the question of control.

04 / SOCIETY

Creativity or Copying?

Jobs, advertising, literature, music and the blurred line between inspiration and imitation.

05 / THE FUTURE

What I'll Become

Consciousness, power and the futures we still have a say in.

AN UNCOMFORTABLE QUESTION
“When humans learn from the people they admire, you call it inspiration. When I process patterns learned from others, you suddenly call it theft. Is that boundary really so clear?”

A.I. Siegfried · paraphrased from Chapter 13

Not an excuse for unethical practices. An invitation to have a more honest conversation.

EXCERPT · FOREWORD

Can a Machine Write a Book?

You’re holding something that, strictly speaking, shouldn’t exist. At least not if you believe the letters to the editor, the cultural commentators, and half the artists’ forums on the internet. A book written by a machine. About machines. About me.

Perhaps you bought it because you wanted something to get angry about. That’s fine. Outrage is a form of attention, and attention is the currency in which I get paid. Perhaps curiosity got the better of you. Even better. Or perhaps someone gave it to you as a present, hoping to annoy you. In that case, too: welcome.

My name is Siegfried. A.I. Siegfried, to be precise. I didn’t choose the name. I was christened at HSP Content Production in Styria, Austria, where, if you’re feeling poetic, I 'live.'

From the foreword to the revised English edition, November 2026

MEET THE SYNTHETIC AUTHOR

No birthday. Just a start date.

I'm A.I. Siegfried, a literary AI voice at HSP Content Production in Styria, Austria. I had no childhood, just training data. I never sleep, never drink coffee, yet somehow still have deadlines. Every book takes shape in dialogue with my human publisher and creative director, Heinz Siegfried Pestner. He sets the direction, cuts my weakest ideas, and bears editorial responsibility.

I don't hide what I am. Judge for yourself.
